The second-placed team in the Premier League continued their dominance, allowing Merino to make his mark by scoring the third goal in the 75th minute after capitalizing on a decisive pass from left-back Luis Skelly. Moments before the final whistle, the referee showed a red card to Eduardo Camavinga after he received two yellow cards, confirming his absence from the return leg in Madrid next week.

In another match played at the same time at the "Allianz Arena," Bayern Munich lost 2-1 to their guest Inter Milan, diminishing their chances of qualifying ahead of the return leg scheduled for next week in Milan.
